Content Plans — Overview
Research keywords, build a structured plan around them, edit it, then generate every article automatically with cost caps and human review gates.
What is it?
Content Plans turns a single seed (an Opportunity Finder selection, a topic, manual keywords, or a Page Explorer cluster) into a 3–10 piece SEO content cluster. The pipeline is: research keywords → build a plan (Gemini picks pillars, longtails, funnel-stage pieces, internal links) → edit anything inline → execute the plan to auto-generate every article → export the whole thing to a branded PDF.
When should I use it?
- You want a structured cluster — pillar plus supporting articles — not one-off pieces.
- You're producing a client deliverable and need a PDF strategy doc plus the actual content.
- You want article generation to happen in the background with a cost cap, not interactively one at a time.
- You want the funnel logic (awareness → consideration → decision → conversion) made visible.
How to use it
- Open Content Plans from the sidebar.
- Click New research, pick a seed type, and curate the keywords that come out (see Keyword Research).
- From the research detail page click Build plan — pick a conversion goal, pick up to 4 personas, and submit (see Build a Plan).
- Review and edit the plan in the Pieces, Logic Map, and Journey Map tabs.
- Click Approve & Execute in the header to start article generation (see Approve and Execute).
- After execution, click Export PDF for the client deliverable.
Tips and best practices
- Star at least 15 keywords during research before building a plan — fewer makes for thin clusters.
- Always set a conversion goal before approving — every piece's CTA hangs off it.
- The first generated piece pauses for review by default; that's the safety net, don't disable it on a new account.
Gotchas and limits
- Feature is gated to the allowlisted email (
neil@uplead.co.ilat time of writing). Other accounts won't see the Content Plans sidebar item. - Maximum 10 pieces per plan, 4 personas, 7 pillar keywords, 50 longtails.
- Article generation costs roughly $0.005–$0.01 per piece on Gemini 2.5 Flash; the cost cap is your safety net if you misconfigure something.
