Plans — Build a Plan
Hand a curated research artifact + a conversion goal + up to 4 personas to Gemini, and get back a structured plan with pillars, longtails, and 3-10 funnel-staged pieces.
What is it?
The second phase of a Content Plan. From an open research artifact you click Build plan to fire the generateContentPlan Cloud Function. Gemini reads your curated keyword set, your selected personas' bios, and your client's primary conversion goal, then produces an objective, 3–7 pillar keywords, 20–50 longtails, 3–10 ContentPieces with funnel stages and CTAs, and per-persona journey paths. It runs server-side, takes 30–60 seconds, and lands you on the Plan Detail page.
When should I use it?
- You've already curated keywords in a research artifact (see Keyword Research).
- You have at least one conversion goal on the client — or you can create one inline from this modal.
- You want a full cluster structure laid out before writing a single article.
How to use it
- Open a research artifact in the Ready state and click Build plan.
- Give the plan a name.
- Pick a Conversion goal from the dropdown. If the client has none, click Add first goal to create one inline (label + type + destination URL — see Edit Client Profile).
- Pick 1–4 Personas for this plan. The plan generator will write each piece against this audience.
- Click Build plan. A spinner shows for ~30–60 seconds while Gemini generates.
- You're dropped on the Plan Detail page — start with the Overview tab.
Tips and best practices
- The conversion goal drives every piece's suggested CTA; pick the goal that matches this plan's outcome, not the client's broadest goal.
- 2–3 personas usually produce sharper output than 4 — wide audiences dilute the writing.
- Don't worry about getting the first plan perfect — Phase 2 lets you edit every field inline.
Gotchas and limits
- Curated set must have at least 5 starred keywords or the CF rejects with a friendly error.
- Gemini sometimes hallucinates keywords that aren't in your curated set; the validator strips them silently. If you end up with fewer pieces than expected, that's why.
- A plan without a conversion goal still generates, but every piece's CTA field is empty.
