Content Studio — Deep Research Mode

Gemini searches the web for sourced facts before writing. The article cites real sources with [1] [2] markers, and a Research Brief panel shows exactly what was searched and found.

What is it?

A toggle in Content Studio that splits Gemini generation into two phases. First, Gemini runs live Google searches on your keyword and collects 5–8 recent, authoritative facts with source URLs. Then it writes the article using only those facts, citing each one with a numbered marker like [1] or [2].

The result carries a purple Research Brief panel above the article preview showing the actual searches Gemini ran, every finding (with date and linked source), and which facts made it into the article. In the Asset Library, these drafts wear a 🔬 Research badge.

When should I use it?

The topic is time-sensitive — recent news, current pricing, new product releases. Plain Gemini writes from stale training data; Deep Research reads the live web.
You want citations but the article doesn't justify Manus credits or a 1–3 minute wait.
The client expects factual claims to be verifiable.

How to use it

In Content Studio (ad-hoc):

Make sure you're in Gemini mode (the toggle is hidden in Manus and Backlink modes — Manus researches natively).
Flip Deep Research Mode on (purple switch under High-Fidelity Mode).
Enter your keyword and click Generate Content Suite. The status shows "Researching live sources" first.
When done, expand the Research Brief panel above the article to review searches and findings. Click any source title to open it.
The [1] [2] markers in the article body match the numbered findings in the panel.

In Content Plans (per piece):

Open a plan and go to the Pieces tab. A purple Deep Research bar shows how many pieces have it on.
Click the Research pill on any piece to toggle just that one, or use Research all / None for the whole plan.
You can flip the pill on any piece that hasn't generated yet — including failed pieces before a Retry.
Pieces generated with research get the same Research Brief panel and 🔬 badge as ad-hoc drafts.

Tips and best practices

Non-English content prefers regional sources — Hebrew articles pull from .co.il and .org.il domains where available.
Review the findings before publishing. The sources are real, but check they're ones you'd want to be associated with.
Combine with High-Fidelity Mode for the strongest quality: sourced facts + strict writing rules.

Gotchas and limits

Adds roughly 30 seconds and about double the Gemini token cost — still only cents per article.
If the research phase fails, generation continues as a normal Gemini draft. No error appears, but the draft has no 🔬 badge and no Research Brief panel.
Source links route through a Google redirect URL (vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/...). They open the real page — the link title shows the actual source name.
Deep Research drafts show the Research Brief panel, not the blue Sources panel Manus drafts get. Both serve the same purpose.
The Content Studio toggle resets to off each time you open it — a per-generation choice, not a saved preference. Plan pieces DO remember their setting until generated.
Each researched plan piece adds ~30 s and roughly doubles that piece's Gemini cost (still cents). "Research all" on a 7-piece plan means 7 research phases — fine, just expected.
