Dashboard — Connection Banner
The amber-indigo banner at the top of the Dashboard when Google Search Console or Google Analytics 4 aren't connected yet.
What is it?
A prominent banner that appears above the KPI cards whenever Google Search Console (GSC) and/or Google Analytics 4 (GA4) are not connected for the current client. It reminds you the Dashboard is showing a partial picture and offers a one-click path to fix it. The banner disappears automatically once both sources are connected.
When should I use it?
- You see it whenever you open the Dashboard for a client that isn't fully connected.
- You want the fastest path to complete onboarding for a new client.
How to use it
- Read the banner message — it tells you exactly which source is missing (just GSC, just GA4, or both).
- Click Connect now →. You'll jump directly to Data Sources.
- Click Connect Account on the GSC and/or GA4 card to complete OAuth.
- Return to the Dashboard. The banner is gone and the KPI cards populate with real numbers.
Tips and best practices
- GSC is the higher-leverage connection — more Dashboard widgets depend on it. Connect GSC first if you have to prioritize.
- The banner doesn't reappear after you dismiss the connection flow. It only shows up if the underlying data source remains disconnected.
- If the banner reappears after you thought you connected, the OAuth token may have expired. Re-connect the source.
Gotchas and limits
- The banner is hard-coded to GSC + GA4. It doesn't track Chatbase, Peec.ai, or other sources — those show connection status only on the Data Sources screen.
- Viewers see the banner but can't complete the connection — only owners/editors can configure data sources.
- If you're a team member with your own Drive connection pending, a separate notice appears in My Settings, not this banner.
